Turner-Turner went hunting in different regions including present-day Alaska and British Columbia. He talks about hunting seals, shooting various game on land, and beaver trapping. Also included are his perspectives and opinions of Indigenous Peoples he meets in the Pacific Northwest. In the back, he gives general hunting advice such as discouraging the use of poisons while hunting (to spare the lives of non-game animals), what to pack in sportsman's and camp outfits, how to form a hunting party, and how to skin an animal in preparation of preserving it as a trophy..
