A collection of thirty-four brief reports from the United States Senate. The reports are Nos. 297-331 from February 12-March 3, 1849, each of which were part of the "30th Congress, 2d Session." Reports are between one page and fifteen pages. The following are some of the subjects covered in each report (listed by number). No. 297: land grants for memorial of the General Assembly of Arkansas. No. 298: John P. Duval, governor of Florida Territory, and expenses. No. 299: House Bill No. 214, for the relief of Noah A. Phelps. No. 300: rejected pension for Rosana Maury. No. 301: rejected pension for Ruth Kerr. No. 302: James Maglence's heirs seek compensation for his horse "lost in service of the United States during the last war with Great Britain [War of 1812]." No. 303: Samuel F. Reed petitions for compensation of his horse surrendered to the U.S. government for the Second Seminole War in Florida. No. 304: compensation for property lost during the Second Creek War (1836) in Georgia [Henry W. Jernigan referenced in report]. No. 305: settling of Elijah J. Weed's accounts. No. 306: rejection of House Bill No. 650 about a land warrant. No. 307: compensation for U.S. Post Office workers Guion and McLaughlin for "carrying the mail." No. 308: pension for a private Joseph M. Farrows of the Kentucky Volunteers who became debilitated during his service. No. 309: Arkansas salt springs compensation. No. 310: discussion of postal route between St. Louis and San Francisco. No. 311: petition of Maria Taylor regarding her Louisiana plantation. No. 312: compensation for Navy surgeon Alexander Y. P Garnett. No. 313: Sarah Crandall, widow of James Coon, petitions for a pension based on Coon's service in American Revolutionary War. No. 314: Alexander Montgomery's compensation for losses sustained while serving as a disbursing officer in Mexico. No. 315: Nathaniel Lewis's compensation for "subsistence, forage, ammunition, and medicine." No. 316: Robert M. Martin petitions for financial relief when he left his occupation as a farmer to serve in the 1st Regiment Mississippi Rifles. No. 317: Alexander R. McKee and Johnson Price's petition about land certificates. No. 318: a bill for the relief of William Tee (H. R. No. 507). No. 319: William Flannigan and William Parsons were hired by the U.S. government as shipbuilding contractors during the Revolutionary War but want compensation for a financial loss (higher timber costs) resulting from the British blockade at the Battle of Chesapeake Bay. No. 320: yeoman James Colburn wants compensation for a full term of service. No. 321: discussion on whether duties should be charged in event of goods being destroyed in a warehouse or the like. No. 322: Robert Sewell's petition for compensation of property destroyed as a result of the Revolutionary War. No. 323: collection of ten tables for gathering census data to further research on business, manufacturing, and agricultural industries. No. 324: act for the relief (commutation or half-pay) of the late Samuel Jones, Revolutionary War veteran. No. 325: compensation for Professor Page's pioneering research on electromagnetism and its application in navigation and locomotion. No. 326: House Bill No. 216 for the relief of Colonel Francis Vigo's legal representatives. No. 327: issue concerning a patent for an invention involving Peter W. Morgan, John Arnold, and George C. Bishop. No. 328: land claims for Jacques Clamorgan's heirs. No. 329: extra pay for soldiers who served in the Mexican-American War. No. 330: contract between U.S. and Bremen for mail service.
