Original billhead on beige paper with printed and typed text in black and purple ink, respectively. There is a small black and white illustration that shows the storefront of the business with a caption indicating its address, "200, 202, 204 & 206 First Ave South, Cor. Second St." Datelined September 25, 1899 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 8 1/2" x 6." Billhead is very clean and intact overall but has slight wrinkling and a couple vertical fold lines (was folded in thirds). The printed letterhead reads, "W. S. Nott Company, Manufacturers of Pure Oak Leather Belting. Northwest Agents. New York Belting & Packing Co. Ltd., Rubber Belting, Packing, Hose & c.; Eureka Fire Hose Company. Cotton Rubber Lined, Fire Department and Mill Hose.; Gandy Belting Company. Prepared Stitched Canvas Belting." The following is also printed: "Carey's Magnesia, Flexible Cement Roofing," "Fire Department Apparatus & Supplies," and "Northwest Agents, Dodge Independence Wood Split Pulley." Terms of payment are on the back. In small printed text, the printer of this billhead is listed as the "Cootey Co.; Lithographs; Printing; Minneapolis." The handwritten portions include the name of the customer, the items purchased, and the price of the items. The customer was the "Isdell Mercantile Company" in Pony, Montana. There is one line of items purchased, "24 pairs Star St. Cloud." The W. S. Nott Company was founded in 1879 by William S. Nott as a supplier of leather drive belts for milling and lumber companies. Over the years, the company diversified its line of products which included luggage, horse harnesses, steam pumps, and fire equipment. Around 1940, the company began to concentrate more on manufacturing industrial products and equipment. The Nott Company still operates to this day. The Isdell Mercantile Company was a general store founded in 1876 by N. J. Isdell in Pony, Montana. Pony was a boomtown established in 1875 after the discovery of quartz in the area. After the supply of quartz dwindled and mining operations ceased, the Isdell Mercantile Company went out of business and the town of Pony was abandoned in 1940s. The Cootey Company was a prominent Minneapolis printing company founded by Thomas E. Cootey.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
