Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning, foxing on endpapers, offsetting on front endpaper, and the small occasional stain. A unique travelogue chronicling a transcontinental tour undertaken by "four young ladies who crossed the continent unattended by male escort and met on every hand most courteous treatment and most kindly counsel ...." Although Stanley Wood is officially credited as the author, this book contains much reprinted dialog between the four women, who are identified as Jennie, Joan, Judith, and Julia. Beautiful printed photographs capture natural landscapes and subjects and other scenic views in the United States. In the Preface, the photographers are credited as W. H. Jackson, C. R.
