It is believed to be the oldest game that has been played continuously since its inception and is still played to this day. Players take turns by placing their pieces called stones on the game board. The stones traditionally come in black and white. The objective is to cover more territory than the opponent. Stones are captured when they are surrounded on all orthogonally adjacent points by the opponent's stones. The game continues until either player decides they are finished moving their stones..
