With map-illustrated endpapers, a photographic frontispiece, one multi-panel folding map, and various other photographs, reproductions and maps as plates and in the text. A small area of discolouration to the head of the backstrip where the wrapper is defective. A very good copy in the double-spread pictorial colour dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but nicked with three or four portions of quite noticeable loss from the upper edge. The author's celebrated history of the minor of the two main tributaries of the Nile, with a printed dedication to Freya Stark.
