1960. Hardcover and slipcase. THIS EDITION CONSISTS OF ONLY 1500 COPIES, OF WHICH THIS COPY IS No. 1098. THE 12 ILLUSTRATIONS WERE PRODUCED BY SERGE IVANOFF, WHO SIGNED THE BOOK. One-quarter bound, red morocco leather spine stamped in gold and mold-made Italian paper bearing a pattern designed by Adrian Wilson and executed in gold. The pages are Oxbow laid paper. Edges are specially speckled. Slip case has paper title on spine. Condition of book: Binding lightly age toned, spine darken with short abrasion and rubbed marks; else overall Very Good Plus. Free of stickers, bookplates, writing in text, and page tears. Not a former library book. Pages are crisp and clean, text very readable, and illustrations are bright, vivid, which includes the beautiful frontispiece. Slipcase: Lightly age darken, opening wall has chips, some paper missing from slipping the book in and out of slipcase. Paper title on spine has age darken with some foxing. This is a wonderful medieval love affair based on a Celtic legend, which includes Tristan and Iseult drinking a love potion prepared by the queen for her daughter and King Mark.
