Anthony 501 Broadway New York from photographic negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery" Reverend Beecher (1813-1887) was a prominent clergyman, abolitionist and speaker. His sister was the author Harriet Beecher Stowe. The later part of his life was marred by the Beecher-Tilton Scandal, in which the Reverend was accused of adultery with a married woman.
