Original stereocard on pink-beige board. No date, circa 1856-1863. Board measures 7" x 3 1/2"; photograph measures 6" x 3 1/8." Very clean copy. Title on bottom of left image. "C. Bierstadt, Niagara Fall, N.Y." on left side of board. "Manufacturer of Stereoscopic Views" on right side of board. Photograph shows a busy street with buildings in Manhattan, NY where crowds of people appear to be watching a parade or procession. Charles Bierstadt (1819-1903) was an American photographer who specialized in stereoscopic views. He was one of the older brothers of American landscape painter Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902). He and his brother, Edward Bierstadt (1824-1906), a fellow stereoscopic photographer, established themselves as professional photographers in the late 1850s.
