After obtaining his State medical degree from the University of Tours , he began his professional life as a pediatrician before engaging in humanitarian work at the start of the Lebanese civil war , in 1975. It was in reaction to the second Israeli invasion of southern Lebanon in 1978 ( Operation Litani ) that he created Amel Association , in order to provide emergency aid to victims of the war. Mohanna, Professor at the Lebanese University , is also General Coordinator of the Collective of Lebanese NGOs and of the Collective of Arab NGOs. In addition, he is a recognized expert, particularly in the field of health, with international organizations such as the World Health Organization . He is a member of one of the preparatory groups for the World Humanitarian Summit to be held in Istanbul in 2015 and represents Amel Association International in several forums: the Mediterranean Citizens Assembly, HAP, ICVA (International Council of Voluntary Agencies, the ECOSOC, etc. The D rKamel Mohanna played a crucial role in the reconstruction of Lebanon after the civil war and, a leading figure in humanitarian aid in Lebanon, he is a public figure respected by all in his country and abroad.
