Dulles (1888-1959) was an American lawyer who was long involved in international politics and who served as U.S. Secretary of State (1953-59) in the Eisenhower administration. In this letter Dulles writes about his trip to the west coast. He turns down, with thanks, an invitation to dine with Stilson. He says that he will be in San Francisco in an official capacity where he will attend "cetrain preliminary conferences" and that will make it impossible to also visit Los Angeles.. Manuscript.
