8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. On offer is a super, original manuscript relic of early 20th Century Christian outreach being the 1904 diary and travel journal of a Mormon Elder Andrew A. Kerr, on a Mission in Hanover, Germany, and then traveling through Germany to Italy back to Germany ending the narrative aboard a ship leaving Liverpool with companions John Lyman of Big Horn and Albert Rick of Morgan. He begins: "The year began with me still in the land of the Germans as a hated Mormon Missionary; my prospects are good for remaining in that condition" and then goes on in a small, legible hand over 100 hand numbered pages of entries providing super detail of Elder Kerr's works and travels in Germany, starting in Hanover, then Hamburg, Wein and then through to Italy, Holland and finally England. We sense he has been on the Mission for sometime but is now wrapping up and getting in some final travel before going home. He writes in his keen eyed, droll style from Jan. 1, 1904 thru Apr. 27, 1904, remarking an everything from visiting a castle with ovens big enough to hold oxen, walls 6 feet thick in Heidelberg to the politics and people of the day making for a fascinating look at the travels and life of this Mormon Elder missionary early in the 20th Century. [We note that there is a loose leaf from another journal, lost to history that has four pages of handwritten diary entries from mid entry Dec. 26th 1903 to New Years Eve 1903 tucked in.] Stain spot of front cover.
