SIGNED LETTER, 1941, 1ST Edition, GOOD Condition, Typed, signed (Elsie MenDl) letter on browned St. Regis Hotel stationery, with envelope (return address de Wolfes Beverly Hills address- the house she briefly rented in 1941, before buying After All ). Letter is to the Honor Legion, Police Department, New York- and once enclosed a check for a policeman who had behaved so magnificently in the Fifth Avenue hold-up. Also there is a letter from the director of the Private Chauffeurs of New York to Lewis Valentine, police commissioner. Apparently Elsie de Wolfe's Chauffeur Anthony Magnani Didn't have time to hand-deliver the letter before leaving for Los Angeles with de Wolfe, and gave it to his colleague to deliver- all Explained in this second letTeR.
