Kaempfer, physician of the Dutch Embassy to the Emperor’s Court in this map gives an account of the Ancient and Present State of government of that Empire, of its Temples, Palaces and chronological succession of the Emperors together with a description of the political, social & physical state of the country in the 17th century.
Two inset maps are shown: north region of Japan with Kamtschatka, part of Korea and the Chinese coast. The other inset map is depicts the north east part of Japan. At the lower centre area of the map there is a dedication to Sir Hans Sloane. In the upper centre there is an inset showing a table of distances from Japan to other countries.
