A Very Good copy. This is a bilingual reprint of a diary kept by Pedro Fages during his hitherto unknown 1770 expedition to San Francisco Bay. Introduction by Herbert Eugene Bolton. An Extract from the Constitution of the Academy of Pacific Coast History and a list of officers who are part of the academy are printed on the inside of the front cover. A list of Publications of the Academy of Pacific Coast History for Volumes 1 and 2 is printed on the inside of the back cover. Pedro Fages (1734-1734) was a Spanish explorer, soldier, and the 2nd and 5th Governor of Alta California. Herbert Eugene Bolton (1870-1953) was an American historian whose specialization was Spanish-American history. He served as the department chair of UC Berkeley's History Department for twenty-two years and is also credited for helping to make the Bancroft Library a prominent institution and place of research..
