Gilt decorations to compartments of spine, contrasting lettering piece. Top edge of pages gilt. 696 pages. Frontis., extra title page plus 31 plates, each of them delicately and individually hand-coloured in a very professional manner, each with tissue guard. Some decorative initial letters also tinted by hand. The book is foxed but the plates have mostly escaped this because of the guards.
