Nigel Lambourne,b1919 London.Studied at the Central School of Art and Crafts and at the Royal College of Art,where he gained a diploma in engraving.Army service during WWII.Senior Lecturer in graphics at St Martin's School of Art (from1948) and at Leicester Polytechnic and University (from 1971).Graphic artist,painter and printmaker.Figures,drawn naturalistically in an animated,sketchy style,play an important part in his illustrations.He works in chalk and pen,pastel and lithography,and on copper plates.Published mainly by the Folio Society.
