Lyman Law (1770-1842), Connecticut Congressman (1811-17) may have represented Gorton in the transaction and one of the documents is signed by Law as a witness. Another document excuses Gorton from duty in the Connecticut Militia and is signed by Judge John Hyde (1828). Other signatures on the various documents are those of: Thomas Lathrop; Robert Gorton (2 times); Joseph D. Smith; L.W. Gardiner; and Moses H. Warren. Fine clean copies.. Manuscript.
