Brown leather-covered boards with string binding. Lightly embossed gilt lettering and blind-stamped illustration on front cover. "To Ruth, From Miriam & Bill, Christmas 1927" written in white ink on front pastedown. Some photos have dates; others are undated. Entire album is dated c. 1920s-1930s. Album: 11 1/4" x 7 1/4." Unpaginated, thirty-five leaves. 162 black-and-white photographs. Several photos have been removed; album sold as is. Pages are very clean and intact except for slight edge wear and a few wrinkles. Covers are clean and intact except for slight wear to corners and edges and moderate wear along front and back outer joints. Photographs are very clean and intact except for light age toning, a few wrinkles, and slight wear to extremities. Two of the portrait photos have the face of one of the sitters cut out. A Very Good copy. An original photo album kept by Ruth and Wilbur Hyde. Many of the photos have handwritten captions identifying the subject. Ruth and Wilbur (c. 1913/14-?) lived in Northern Ohio. Ruth started this album prior to meeting Wilbur. She may have been a school teacher. The couple also may have later moved to California where Wilbur may have worked as an illustrator. The photos in this album show different lcoations in Northern Ohio such as Put-in-Bay, Kelly Island, Chagrin Falls, Painesville, Zanesville, and Cleveland. There are also a few photos of places in North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Indiana (Rundles family reunion), and Iowa. Many of the photos are portraits. Some of the photos also show scenes from eight different schools or camps where Ruth worked or attended including Chippewa Valley Camp and a football game at John Adams High School.. Ephemera.
