James A. Ellison : In Scorn of Consequence [Unpublished Manuscript of book on Vietnam, War, and Fighting in the Military, Loose Leaf, Bound with Clip, No Documentation, 1960s]

Looks to be an Unpublished Manuscript.

Vietnam Story, Foreign Wars. This is 100 single sided pages on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Manuscript starts with a couple of "Highstalker" quotes, then has several pages of dictionary where slang and some what derogatory military terms are described / defined. (As they are later used thru-out the story). There is a detailed list of the Alpha Squad, that notes the name, nick names, military status, race, height, weight and weapon of 7 men, soldiers. Then it begins Chapter one. Story starts: Stalker moved with a smooth and easy stride down the narrow street path, his dark blue eyes quickly scarring the beaten earth of the trail. Seeking out trip wires and the tell-tail signs of anti-personnel mines, buried in the dirt of the path. With a sudden jerk, he came to a stop.... Highstalker quotes at the opening: (1) "Because right is right.... it is wisdom to follow right, in scorn of consequence". Highstalker; Warchief of the Comanche Nation, July 25, 1889. (2) "You want a soft and easy death? Then go find other graves. On this hill men die fighting."Highstalker; Sergeant, United States Army, January 20, 1968.Minimal research shows no matching publication. A brief skimming shows it to be a war story, descriptive in nature, highly military. Goes to chapter 11, so without reading it, we don't know if it complete. Includes a list of the Squad soldiers (assumed to be the real people or characters in the story), and a slang dictionary of terms used by the US soldiers, some are somewhat derogatory to the Vietnamese. But most have to do with short hand for military items, and people. Looks to be a personal experience story of the US vs Vietnamese, war and events that took place in real life. This is a copy, not an original typed work. It is in an old "copier" style from the 1960s/ 1970s, and some text on a few pages are cut off by that process. Typing is in a cursive, making it a little more difficult to read, but once you start reading it's easy to follow. A RARE unpublished account of the War in the 1960s from the inside. As is as found. Unknown copyright history. But an excellent resource for someone researching or writing about that era. Firmly readable. readable. ~ We appreciate your consideration of one of our books, art prints or novelty items. We strive to offer fast, courteous and professional service to all our patrons.
