The 5th state of the map
A superb map of Canada, by important 19th century British cartographer James Wyld covering Ontario and Eastern Canada and the north-east US. A rather detailed map showing various counties of upper and lower Canada. An instet of the Maritimes appears on the upper left hand corner of the map. The map shows Canada from the western end of Lake Erie on the west to Prince Edward Island on the east and from Anticosti Island on the north to Long Island and New York city. Virtually the whole of New England is shown including the northern parts of Rhode Island and Connenticut. Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine are shown in full. The whole of upstate New York is included. Also shown are the northern part Pennsylvania. An important railroad map of the peiod (in blue) with a high concentration in Massachusetts and upstate New York., Winearls 138 (5)
