8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. On offer is an original archive of manuscript letters, diary-like in form, dated S.S. Deronian, Atlantic Ocean, November 7th, 1900 and ends with their leaving for America out of the port of Marseille November 30th, 1900. The manuscript, using a coverless notebook, full written save for a few pages at the end, handwritten by 'Kate' details her trip over some five [5] letters, some as long as 12 pages, for a total of 61 pages, to her parents while she is on board the ship going across to England and her trip to France. She leaves France on board the S. S. Caledonia. Both ships were large ocean liners of great beauty. Kate does a lovely job writing as they leave America behind, the views they had and then the great illness they had from heavy seas plus much else of life on board the ship and all the people she encountered. The diary is very detailed with a lot of descriptive content and in fact nearly a soap opera of characters and small events throughout the trip and then upon landing in England, she writes of the sights and the times in England and her trip over to France and the sights and times there., she describes everyday scenes and what she is doing, etc. The diary is 7 x 10 inches 46 pp and overall VG..
