Pages are very clean and intact overall except for light age toning, some foxing, and a few small dampstains limited to bottom edge. A Very Good copy. A speech originally delivered before the United States House of Representatives on June 5, 1848 by David S. Kaufman (1813-1851), an American lawyer and politician. Kaufman served as a representative in the Texas House of Representatives from 1838-1841, a senator in the Texas Senate from 1843-1845, and a U.S. Representative from Texas from 1846-1851. In this speech, Kaufman defends the annexation of the Republic of Texas, the independence of Texas from Mexico, and the United States' involvement in the Mexican-American War. He argues that it was Mexico, not the U.S., who started the war and adamantly opposes the Whig Party's stance on the subject.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Soft cover
