He taught Jewish history, religious philsophy and homiletics at the rabbinical seminary in Budapest for his entire life. In his lifetime he wrote thirty books and over 500 essays and book reviews. He was a pioneer in the field of Jewish art and co-founded the Gesellschaft für Sammlung und Konservierung von Kunst und historischen Denmälern des Judentums in Wien.
