One black-and-white printed frontispiece portrait photograph of the author (shown bedridden), complete. Pages are very clean and intact overall except for a former owner's ink signature on blank recto of frontispiece, slight dampstaining limited to top and side margins, and a small closed tear limited to side margin of Pages 45-46. Covers are clean and intact overall but have some dampstaining along top and side edges, a few wrinkles, and slight splitting along spine (largest split measures about 1/2" from tail). A Very Good copy. A raw and emotional autobiographical account by Thomas F. Lockhart, a man battling a lifelong disease that affects his joints and mobility. Lockhart discloses his affliction is not rheumatism but a rare disease; it prevents him from having virtually any physical movement. Throughout his account, Lockhart expresses the importance of Christian faith, his advice to others, and the philosophical thoughts he has had all of those years confined to a bed.
