On offer is a super, original manuscript autograph letter signed [ALS] dated March 18th, 1891 Constantinople Turkey handwritten by Louie Patten to his friends Clarence and Aggie Buchanan describing some of his Grand Tour highlights in the Ottoman Empire's capital wherein he writes about coming by steamer from Athens, men with turbans and fez's, describing the sultan going once a week to the big Mosque with 1300 soldiers, that he will continue from Hotel da Byzance by sleeping car to Vienna etc. BIO NOTES: Clarence Maywood Buchanan [7 Jun 1854 - 24 Apr 1932] married to Elizabeth Agnes Henderson 25 Dec 1877, Washington, Iowa. 4.5 x 7 inches.
