12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. On offer is a charming, original 1947 manuscript diary handwritten by a North Carolina senior at the Women's College in Greensboro named Louise Vann. A lively girl displaying an expected post war exuberance combined with a busy, entertaining college experience. In many ways an All American girl but sometimes with a touch of a comedic soul as right from the first day January 1st her New Years Day involves going to the doctor having a wart removed leading to her passing out. By the time she gets home the trauma makes her upchuck but youth ever resilient by the end of the day she is attending a smashing party. The book is well filled and she is incredibly involved in her social network listing off date after date and sometimes dating a fellow 'for' another girl. Here is a snippet: 'Classes. Heard from Bird dog in Wash. Liking it mucho. Helen & I went downstairs and ate a bowl of Tomato Soup and crackers to hold us til lunch…. Toni and I slipped in to hear Sigmund Romberg & orchestra & vocalists. Was superb. Neither of us had ever enjoyed anything as much. Never forget it!' Always busy after classes she also talks about going to many Southern Conference football and basketball games involving NC State Wolfpack, UNC Tar Heels, Duke University Blue Devils, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
