Selected from Talmudic, medieval and modern Jewish literature, arranged according to Chapter and verse of the Bible. . . ” (English title page. ) Libowitz, a rabbi, polemicist and hebraist, hoped by publishing this work to combat an anti-Semitic charge that the Jewish canon was humorless.
