Very good in the original printed card wrappers as issued, spine cracked and slightly defective, extremities lightly chipped, text block clean. Possibly the scarcest of Boer War poetry volumes, 304 subscribers being listed and probably no more than 400 copies printed. Those poems written by South Africans were anonymous to protect prosecution under martial law, as the tone and content was so antagonistic to the British war effort that the publication was banned in South Africa.
