96 pages. Thrillingly and dramatically illustrated with colour and b/w plates. It was generous of Elizabeth O'Neill to encourage girls to read this book. However, the drama and the boys' own style of illustrations (plus the absence of meaningful female presence) leaves no doubt the intended market for this enthusiastic and hopeful book. It is surprisingly light on propaganda. This copy is very worn and battered. It is stoic and tough. The frontispage is absent. There is foxing throughout as is evidence of consuming readership.
