These volumes contain writings and teachings related to Rosicrucianism - a philosophic and esoteric belief system that emerged in what is now Germany about 1607. This was at a time when Europe was experiencing one of its interminable wars - this time the Thirty Years War. This religious and political war was one of the most destructive in European history. People were excited to think that there was some new way to create a more enlightened life and society so the writings became very popular. Rosicrucianism, with its supposed roots in secret societies spread across Europe and eventually to North America Rosicrucian teachings today are mix of Christianity, gnostic ideas, philosophic notions and divine magic. They lodges proliferate across Europe and North America. Here are some quotations for the volumes: "Master the seven kinds of wisdom Zeal, Intelligence, Meditation, Investigation, Joy, Repose and Serenity"; "When all consciousness is lost save that of the shape on which the mind is focused, this stage is concentration"; "You can vary your process in exhaling sometimes by imagining that as you exhale, the undesirable condition of ill-health, age or disorder is being carried out of your system and you are breathing it away from you forever"; "Interference with the vibrations of a thing which we see, hear, feel, smell or taste will not change the nature of the thing but it will change in our consciousness the picture of it"; "The magnetic condition that [ ] is around man's physical body is the result first of all of his physical vitality"; "Whether you call an affirmation a command or whether you call it a plea or a prayer makes little difference to the operation of the Divine Lawrence"; "All life is community life. All being is community being"; "Thales, the founder of the Ionic school taught that the that the original element is water, that one divine essence is diffused through all beings; that the universe is a living creature; that nothing is dead even stars being souls; all things being full of God". For a student of the esoteric, a historian researching this philosophic teaching or simply a searcher of truth, these three little books offer a wealth of thoughtful ideas and quite possible some truths..
