Sixteen pages, complete. Pamphlet features a beautiful multicolored illustration of the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Fold-out envelope has a black and beige illustration on the front with portraits of Abraham Lincoln, George Meade, and Robert E. Lee. Pamphlet is pristine and undamaged; a fine copy. The envelope is also clean and intact but has a slight wrinkle near the snap clasp on the back. From Monaghan, the Lincoln Bibliography, no. 3122: "Lincoln as a military strategist." Joseph Benjamin Oakleaf, a "Big Five" collector of Lincoln memorabilia, writes on the historical context of the Battle of Gettysburg and the connections between Abraham Lincoln, General Meade, and Robert E. Lee. In particular, Oakleaf discusses a letter Lincoln wrote, but never sent, to General Meade. In this letter, Lincoln expressed his disappointment to Meade for not capturing Lee, despite having won the Battle of Gettysburg, which could have ended the Civil War.. Book. Book Condition: Fine.
