Beginning with a short history of theatre, vaudeville and cinema in Toronto, (with a brief biography of successful Greek immigrant entrepreneur Alexander Pantages pp28-29) ) it described the construction and opening of the luxurious Pantages Theatre in 1920. Many famous performers starred in the shows, it later became the Imperial movie house. This is followed by a description of the project (1987-89) to restore it as far as possible to it's original 1920s grandeur as a live theatre venue.
