Contemporary brown full leather binding. Gilt lettering on brown spine label. Raised bands. 6 1/2" x 8." 527 pages, complete. One black-and-white frontispiece, complete. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Slight surface wear and slight corner and edge wear. A Very Good copy. On title page: "Imprimatur. Carolus Alston R. P. D. Hen. Spisc. Lond. a Sacris Domensticis." and "Printed for Richard Chiswell at the Rose and Crown in S. Paul's Church-Yard." Former owner's bookplate with a black-and-white illustration tipped in on front pastedown with the name, "Robert Eyre." Symon (or, Simon) Patrick (1626-1707) was an English theologian and clergyman. He eventually became the Bishop of Chichester in 1689 and then the Bishop of Ely from 1691 until his passing in 1707. Historians have termed Patrick an Arminian Anglican. This is an allegorical Christian story that has been likened to John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover
