SGT. WALTER ALDRICH : 1944 - 1945 HUGE ARCHIVE OF 200+ MANUSCRIPT LETTERS HANDWRITTEN BY A PACIFIC THEATER BASED SERGEANT INTENT ON SHARING HIS WAR WITH HIS CONNECTICUT WIFE

8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. On offer is a super archive of original manuscript World War II letters. With over 200 letters from November 1944 to November 1945, Sgt Walter Aldrich provides a detailed, comprehensive look at his service as a member of the US 2nd Air Corps stationed in Hawaii, Guam and the Mariannes Islands to his adored wife, Doris back home in Waterbury, Connecticut. Letters start at an Air Force base in Utah, than Hawaii and later in the war from Guam and the Mariannes Islands. He wrote at least every other day, the majority of these with several pages both handwritten and some typed on Air Corps/USO stationary. This archive is exemplary in its depth as Aldrich is an excellent communicator and shows both his head and his heart on a variety of War time subjects and home front news including the end of the war news with surrender of Japanese and him being sent home to Washington DC and much, much more. In one charming example he apologizes for his hand writing because he is under "the influence of Alcohol" as his wife surprised him earlier with a card announcing the birth of his baby girl. Overall VG.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good+
