A card attached to the front pastedown explains that the book was donated "by Babs Osborn from Estate Late Florence MacDonald - Feb 1984". Florence MacDonald was a much respected gardener and a legendary educator who campaigned for improved Non-White education standards. The covers are benevolent. The spine has a Dewey classification label. The boards have a clear plastic protective cover. The board edges and seams have wear, the covers are scuffed and marked from use and shelving. Within, the contents are much used. There are annotations in pencil throughout. The pages are worn, gently aging, marked from handling, patient, clear and more than competent. fk. Of much interest is that the frontispage has a previous owner signature of the legendary South African botanist, EDITH L STEPHENS, University of Cape Town (after whom the Edith Stephens Wetlands Park in Cape Town is named). A genially owned copy. The boards have scuffing, corner knocks, wear. The spine is sunned. They are steady and sure. The contents have evidence of contented use throughout. There are also some mild aging marks here and there. In general, and by far, the pages are clean, clear, comfortable, competent, certain, companionable, diligently assured. fk. Book Condition: Good.
