Original black and white portrait photograph that shows Mia Slavenska in a seated pose facing forward. No date, circa 1940s. 8 1/4" x 10." Mia Slavenska's signature is on the front in blue pen. Photograph is very clean and intact. A fine copy. Mia Slavenska (1916-2002) was a Croatian-born American prima ballerina. She came to the U.S. in 1937 and danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1938-1942. Slavenska also danced with her own company, Ballet Variante, from 1947-1952 and with the Slavenska-Franklin Ballet Company from 1950-1955. In the lower-right corner is the (reprinted) name of Constantine Hassalevris (1913-1951), who was both a dancer and dance photographer. He photographed many famous ballet dancers of the day.. Two photographs with Mia Slavenska's signature in blue ink on front: one signed and one inscribed; both are $100.00 each. Original black and white portrait photograph that shows Mia Slavenska in a leaning dance pose with her eyes closed and one leg raised in the air. She wears a ballet costume in the form of an elegant dress for the production, Ghost Town (1939). No date circa, 1939. Both measure 8 1/4" x 10." One photograph has Slavenska's signature by itself. The other has an inscription by her that says, "For Miss Eleanor, [...] Sincerely, Mia Slavenska." Professional imprint of photographer Maurice Seymour on front. Photographs are very clean and intact. Both are fine copies. Mia Slavenska (1916-2002) was a Croatian-born American prima ballerina. She came to the U.S. in 1937 and danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1938-1942. Slavenska also danced with her own company, Ballet Variante, from 1947-1952 and with the Slavenska-Franklin Ballet Company from 1950-1955.
