8vo.. The very scarce South African edition of the first book in the hugely popular Precious Ramotswe series set in Botswana and the basis of the recent TV series. This book was originally published by Polygon in Edinburgh as a paperback original in 1998. This edition is also extremely scarce. This first SA editon is equally scarce, and was either published simultaneously with the Scottish edition or possibly followed shortly afterwards. There are two versions of the first SA edition, both almost identical except that that the one states "Printed and bound by Formeset Printers, Epping", and the other "Printed and bound by Clyson Printers, Maitland". The former would appear to be the first issue and seems to have used the UK sheets. The copy on offer is an example of this probable "first issue". There have been many reprintings of this S.African editon of this popular work.
