Lithograph, Burland Lithography Company, Image Size : 462x740 (mm), 18.19x29.13 (Inches), Platemark Size : , Paper Size : 548x816 (mm), 21.57x32.13 (Inches), Printed in Color with Some Hand Coloring, Tear in lower margin extending into the image, professionally repaired and hardly noticeable; otherwise in very good condition, laid down on acid free tissue paper for long term preservation.

It was the administrative center of the Hudson's Bay Company for the Red River Settlement. The fort depicted in the image represents how it stood in the early 1820's, later destroyed by a flood in 1826 and rebuilt 'Upper Fort Garry'. The fort was seized by Louis Riel, in 1869, during the Red River Rebellion. The present site is now downtown Winnipeg.
