Folio (57.5 x 38.5 cms), first edition, pp. [x], 90 lithographed, colour printed map-sheets, pp. 25 (index). Modern blue half morcco, gilt, with cloth slip-case, a fine late nineteenth-century atlas from the celebrated Wardington library of important atlases and geographies, with Lord Wardington’s bookplate on the lower pastedown.

Edward Stanford senior acquired Arrowmsith’s stock in 1874. His own London Atlas, published in Jubilee year and dedicated to Queen Victoria, is considered to be his last significant work before his retirement. Cf.
