A fine-press broadside with a brief statement reaffirming the intellectual freedoms guaranteed to patrons of the Stanford University Libraries. The broadside begins with summarizing the importance of libraries and protecting intellectual freedom and then proceeds to explain the two freedoms "that are essential to the creation, functions and uses of a university library." The first freedom is the "freedom to select books and other materials according to the instructional and research needs of the university, recognizing the desirability of representing all major views including those currently unorthodox or unpopular." The other freedom is the "freedom of inquiry by the individual." This statement was endorsed by the University Library Council and approved by the Academic Council Committee on Libraries and the Academic Senate.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
