Typed letter on beige stationery of the Saturday Review. Typed text in black ink. Signed in blue ink by George Stevens. Datelined March 23, 1939 in New York City. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2." One page. Letter and signature are very clean and intact. George Stevens (1901-1985) was editor of the Saturday Review, a weekly general magazine that ran from 1920-1986. In this letter, Stevens responds to Edwin W. Tomlinson in Washington, D.C., a poet from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Stevens tells Tomlinson that two of his poems did not make it into the magazine but lets him know that "Semantic Sonnet" could fit in as a "letter to the editor.". Manuscript.
