Pages are intact but have dampstaining and staining throughout (text is still very readable). Covers are very clean and intact overall but have fading, possibly worn lettering on spine, rubbing to corners and head and tail of spine, and staining along front outer joint. Binding is tight. A Good copy. Autobiographical account by William G. Stevenson, a New Yorker, who, for thirteen months, served in the Confederate Army. A compelling and informative read about this part of Stevenson's life as well as his insights into the regional attitudes and historical context of the North and South during the Civil War. Stevenson moves through his account chronologically and begins with his persecution in the South (for being a Northerner and suspected abolitionist) and how he came to be conscripted into the Confederate Army..
