From colophon, "This edition was limited to 2,350 copies". Jacob David Babcock Stillman (1819-1888) was a physician who first migrated to California in 1849. While there, he co-founded the first hospital in California, located in Sacramento. Suffering from jaundice and fever in San Francisco in 1850, he longed for home. Because of an outbreak of cholera in Panama, he chose to cross Nicaragua. This is an account of his journey. He was to return to California with his family in 1856 and prosper, becoming Leland Stanford's personal physician.. Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Fine. Binding: Hardcover
