American Bank Note Company, New York, 1898

Dimensions 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches. Black ink, vignettes of St. Pancras Station, London, and the Pullman Car Works in Detroit. The center vignette is covered by a green $1 and a brown 25 cent U.S. Internal Revenue Documentary stamp. At top of decorative border is printed "Boston Certificate". Multiple punch holes, including some arranged to say "Canceled 5-14-17", purple cancellation stamp. This certificate was originally issued to Benjamin C. Creelman on November 15, 1898, and transferred to Anna Creelman Swan on May 5, 1917, upon Benjamin's decease. Pullman's Palace Car Company was founded by George Pullman in 1862 to build sleeping cars for trains. The company was embroiled in the famous "Pullman Strike" in 1894. After Pullman's death in 1897, Robert Todd Lincoln, the son of President Abraham Lincoln, took over as Company president. The company bought several other companies, and reorganized as t "The Pullman Company" in 1900.. Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
