"Authorized Capital, $40,000,000" printed along bottom of border. No. B727, not issued, no stamps or signatures. The New York, West Shore and Buffalo Railway Company was created in 1881 to compete with the New York Central Railroad, controlled by the Vanderbilts. The New York, West Shore and Buffalo Railway was quickly forced into bankruptcy by the New York Central, was bought by them and reincorporated as the West Shore Railroad in 1885.. Book.
