The front board has the 1539 Seal of the City with the motto, 'Londini Defende Tuos Deus Optime Cives'. The Alderman red cloth boards have scuffing, wear, marks from handling and storage. They are benign and steady. The leather spine is comfortable and clubbable. Gilt titling (fresh and sure). The page trims are edged in gilt. This is healthy and most dignified.
