Original black-and-white celebrity portrait photograph of Hugh Studebaker. Studebaker is shown in-character as Dr. Bob, who is seated in front of a microscope and glass container wearing a medical uniform. He looks forward with a slight smile to his face. Signed and inscribed in black ink by Studebaker, "Luck, Health and love to you from us, Dr. Bob and Hugh." No date, circa 1940. 5" x 7." Photograph is virtually pristine and intact except for light to moderate age toning and slight rubbing to the inscription. A Fine copy. Hugh Studebaker (1900-1978) was an American radio actor. He co-starred as Dr. Bob Graham in the radio show, Bachelor's Children. The show aired from 1935-1946 on Chicago's WGN and later CBS and NBC. The radio drama is about the lives of Dr. Bob, his friend Sam Ryder, and their wives Ruth Ann and Janet. Bachelor's Children was the brainchild of Bess Flynn, who modeled the kindly Dr. Bob after a real-life doctor, Dr. Robert A. Black, who had cured her son's heart ailment. The portrayal of Dr. Bob helped set a precedent for modern-day shows featuring doctors as main characters.. Photographic Image. Book Condition: Collectible-Fine. Binding: No Binding
