An annual publication written by students of Nevada City High School (NCHS). Includes portraits of the senior class of 1923 and other students and faculty. Group portraits of the freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes also included. The following are some of the features in the publication: brief histories of the freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior classes; "fun facts" about students (similar to yearbook superlatives of today); "Laugh It Off," a poem; "Lover's Leap," a retelling of a Native American legend about Lover's Leap, an outcrop over the Yuba River; "The Rainbow," a poem; "Athletics," which includes summaries of football, basketball, and track for the boys' teams and basketball for the girls' team and the games NCHS played against other high schools that year; "The Orchestra," "The Operetta," "Atalanta's Race" (summarizes a dance performance based upon the Greek myth); school events including Freshmen Initiation, Freshmen Party, School Carnival, Sophomore Dance, Junior Prom, Quill Dance, and Senior Ball; 1922-1923 calendar of events; "fun" photographs presented in the style of a scrapbook; and "Exchange," which includes praise and commentary for this year's Quill. The publication includes mentions of Grass Valley High School (GVHS) in the sports section which was nearby NCHS. In 1952, the two school merged into Nevada Union High School.. Book.
