UK,8vo HB,minus issued dw/dj,1st edn.[Second volume published under the editorship of The EARL OF LONSDALE,K.G., G.C.V.O.,D.L. and Mr. Eric Taverner,of a proposed library of Sports,Games & Pastimes volumes. There is a Leather de Luxe edn on hand-made paper of 360 numbered copies with a collection of exquisitely tied flies,of this same title/volume.] VG++.Previous owner's inscrptn+addresses to ffe,and both eps generally bright and clean. Bright, generally clean,sharp-cornered,publisher's original, terracotta buckram bds, with very slightly oxidised - but still discernible - stamped gilt letters and Lonsdale heraldic design/device to the spine/backstrip,and similar, small gilt 'Lonsdale' heraldic design/device to upper bd.Because the publisher's gilt, stamped lettering is to the very foot of the spine/backstrip,and with concomitant shelf-wear from bumping and reciprocal creasing to the foot, these letters have either oxidised or almost been worn away and are also just discernible.Spine/ backstrip lightly sunned/faded - as usual/normal - and some slight mottling/marking to front and rear bds' top, bottom and vertical edges. Both head+foot of spine/backstrip minimally bumped with reciprocal creasing.Top edges coloured light brown,fore-edges slightly aged/ tanned - as usual/normal - with some minimal, sporadic spotting/ foxing; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - possibly unread? UK,8vo HB,minus dw/dj,1st edn,7-448pp [paginated] includes preface by Eric Taverner (co-editor) contents list/table,list of 65 numbered plates, similar list of 188 b/w illustrations in the text,30 chapters, profuse (250) illustrations as either contemporary b/w photographs or b/w line illustrations.Plus [unpaginated] half-title page with publisher's advert to recto,b/w photographic frntis,title-page and intro by the Earl of Lonsdale. Despite these minor faults/defects, the book really is in a clean condition and acceptable state, particularly given the absence of the protective dw/dj. A practical guide to modern methods of trout fishing (then 1932/3) by assorted contributors for both the tyro and the expert.Includes chapters on life history of trout, trout flies, fly dressing and materials used etc.,casting+fishing, legal aspect of fishing, and trout streams and fishery management.
